Who is Jeff Koons? Koons became widely recognised for contemporary sculptures after a solo exhibition in 1980. He is best known for his stainless steel sculptures of balloon animals, as well as using ready-made and found objects in his work. His art has been shown in major galleries throughout the world, including the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Pompidou Centre in Paris. His giant floral sculpture Puppy is permanently installed outside the Guggenheim museum in Bilbao. He honours include the French Légion d’Honneur and the US State Department’s Medal of the Arts. Why Spotify is betting big on podcasting

Podcasting revenues hit $314 million in 2017, according to a third-party survey released last summer. It’s a large number for what’s been historically regarded as a niche and difficult to monetize medium, but still pales in comparison to the additional $400-$500 million Spotify says it’s willing to spend on the space this year alone. Two major acquisitions announced early today already comprise a massive commitment to the category. The purchase of Gimlet was reported to have made up nearly half that figure, at $230 million. Germany Orders Crackdown On Facebook’s Data Collection Practices

Facebook said it would appeal the landmark ruling on Thursday by the Federal Cartel Office, the culmination of a three-year probe, saying the watchdog underestimated the competition it faced and undermined Europe-wide privacy rules that took effect last year. The findings follow fierce scrutiny of Facebook over a series of privacy lapses, including the leak of data on tens of millions of Facebook users, as well as the extensive use of targeted ads by foreign powers seeking to influence elections in the United States. The head of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration is calling Altria and Juul to meet in Washington to discuss their tie-up and how it impacts the companies’ plans to combat teen vaping.
